Don’t miss out on a wider audience

Email newslettersWhen people think of online marketing, having a website is usually what they think of as the bare minimum—the one thing they have to have.

But in some cases, having an email newsletter is as beneficial as having a website. It might even be a better choice for some organizations.

So what makes an email newsletter so powerful? There are four distinct benefits that an email newsletter has over other online marketing platforms.

1. Your audience is easier to reach

Facebook only shows your updates to a relatively small percentage of the people that like your page. LinkedIn too. And on Twitter, people have to log in right after you send a tweet in order to see it. With your blog, people have to visit your website to read the articles.

But with an email newsletter, your communication ends up right in your audience’s inbox.

2. You’ve been invited

If you’re running your email database the right way, you’re only sending to people who have signed up for your email newsletter. In those cases, your target audience has asked you to send them emails. You’ve been invited into their inbox.

3. Email is more widely used

Facebook has 864 million daily active users. Twitter has 284 million active accounts. Even LinkedIn has over 332 million accounts.

Email addresses, on the other hand, number in the billions. Back in 2012, there were an estimated 3.3 billion. There are more people you can reach through email than through social media.

4. It can showcase your other online activity

Finally, you can share your other online content in your newsletter. Have a new article online? Great, send an email with an excerpt and a link. Published a new video? Send an email with a thumbnail that links to the video’s web page.

Sending email newsletters is helpful for a lot of organizations, although it may not be the best choice for every organization.
The most common reason an email newsletter isn’t a good fit for a business is that they won’t be able to send it consistently. It’s best to send them at least monthly, so your audience doesn’t forget about you.

Are you willing to invest that time, or invest money to have an online marketing company you trust help you? If so, in most cases an email newsletter will be beneficial. It keeps you connected to your audience in a way that other platforms simply can’t.
