We get a lot of questions from a lot of people. Here are some of them. They may have all come from the same conversation, but we can’t remember for sure.
We do tend to get a lot of similar questions, though, so we thought we’d save you some time and get right to them!
Want to know how long a website will take? What your pricing options are for a nonprofit organization? What happens if you don’t like our work? You’re in the right place!
Q: Do you provide web design services?
A: Yes! We actually started out as a web design company, although our services eventually expanded to include additional services. Feel free to read more on our How We Help page.
Q: So how long will a website take to create? You can have it done in a week or so, right?
A: Although in very rare cases we’ve rushed websites for clients who were willing to pay extra for that, a week is pretty unusual for us. There’s a lot of work that goes into it on our end and on your end, as well as plenty of communication. That usually can’t be done in a week. Our quickest website usually takes 4-8 weeks, and higher end websites can take longer. You can read more details on the timeframes for our website on our Websites page.
Q: What about an e-commerce website. Can you help with that?
A: The short answer? It depends. While we frequently help nonprofits set up online donation pages and help service based businesses set up online invoice payment, anything like a site with hundreds of products for sale is not a good fit for us. If you would really love to work with us, but aren’t sure if your e-commerce requirements would be a good fit, feel free to contact us to find out.
Q: What do you think about my current website?
A: We do offer an Online Marketing Check-Up that includes an objective analysis of your website. But we’ve seen thousands of websites. Chances are pretty good it’s not the worst we’ve seen. But the real question is, what do YOU think of your current website?
Q: Can you help my website appear on the first page of Google’s results? SEO, or whatever it’s called?
A: We don’t make any guarantees on first-page results or anything like that. But we do offer some services to help with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Local SEO. That includes both one-time services as well as ongoing services. But if you’re looking for any absolute guarantees on placement, you’ll have to look somewhere else.
Q: Okay, what about website hosting? I’m in the market for some cheap hosting.
A: Then our hosting would be a horrible option for you. Ours is definitely not the cheapest. Typically, we just provide hosting for clients whose website we created. And we refer to our hosting as managed hosting. In our case, that involves a couple things. First, it means some extra security options for WordPress. Second, it means that we’ll help you on an ongoing basis by adding, editing or deleting your website’s pages, text and images. So it’s far more than you’ll get with most cheap hosting.
Q: Speaking of ongoing help, I want someone else to handle my social media management, email newsletter, and business blogging. I don’t want to spend any time on it at all. Zip, zilch, none. Can you help with that?
A: Not if you want to spend absolutely no time on it. Our process includes a monthly meeting, either in person or over the phone. And each month we also send you all your online content for review. So if you want to spend absolutely zero time on it, we’re not a good fit.
Q: Okay, then how much time will I actually have to invest?
A: Most of our clients meet with us monthly for around an hour, either in person or over the phone. Then they spend however long they deem necessary reviewing the content we send them each month.
Q: Wait, you send content each month? Won’t you post it online for me?
A: Yes, we’ll post your social media content on sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google Plus, as well as publish your blog on your website, and send out your email newsletter for you. However, we work a month ahead of time. So when we interview you one month, we talk about the content for the following month. Then we use tools like WordPress, Hootsuite, and MailChimp to pre-schedule your content.
Q: So why wouldn’t I just write my own content and schedule it?
A: Feel free! Most of our clients either don’t have the time, don’t like what they write, or just find it painful to write their own online content. But we’re not using any magical tools to do the work, so you can definitely do it on your own if you’d like.
Q: Well, what if I still need help? Do you provide training for things like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, or MailChimp? Or even WordPress?
A: You can schedule an in-person training session, or a screen-sharing training session. But we do charge for our training services. If you’re looking for free training, feel free to check out our YouTube channel, where we have tons of free videos.
Q: Okay, okay, you’ve made your point. But your online marketing management services are pretty inexpensive, right?
A: We’re usually not the cheapest option out there. We have options anywhere from $300 on up, although most of our ongoing clients we write content for invest $500 – $1,500 with us every month.
Q: What if I’m with a nonprofit? Can I get a discount then?
A: We do have some special deals and services for nonprofits, but not many are for ongoing services. One option many smaller nonprofits like is our pay-what-you-can website available just for nonprofits. But it’s not a good fit in every single case.
Q: What if I’m not happy with what you guys do?
A: On our websites and ongoing management services, we provide a money-back guarantee. For websites, that means that once it’s ready to go online, you can either sign off on it and we’ll launch the website, or you can opt to get your money back and not receive the website. For ongoing management services, that means that if any month you’re not happy with our services, you can cancel immediately and get that month’s payment back. That even includes the first month. You can read all the nitty-gritty details on our Money-Back Guarantee page.
Q: What’s the deal with the robot?
A: That’s Pixel, our lovable robot mascot! Who doesn’t love robots when they’re so cute?
Q: I love you guys, and want everyone to know!
A: That’s not a question, but thanks! We have a review page that you can use to share reviews of us various places online.
