Is Mailchimp any good?

If you use email marketing, there’s a likely chance that you’ve heard of Mailchimp—maybe you’re currently using it. We at T&S are big fans of Mailchimp, but that doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone.

Let’s take a look at what some other people have to say about Mailchimp.

Easy to use, but not without problems

“Overall, my experience with Mailchimp has been good. It is easy to use and learn if you have a bit of experience with bulk emails. For me, the biggest problem I have with it is that it is pretty limited in being able to create something that’s not a pre-made template. The spacing can be weird and the choice of fonts is limited. I would like to be able to attach documents such as pdf’s and maybe there is a way to do that; I just don’t know how.”

Wouldn’t use it if starting over

“Having served in several marketing roles over the last 15 years, I have utilized several newsletter platforms to send out content. I have been using Mailchimp’s free platform (because we’re a non-profit) since Fall 2020, and there are several things I don’t like about it. First, their audience integration isn’t intuitive and seems wonky. I also despise having to have a code sent to my phone every two weeks for security reasons every time I try to log in. And, while I am using the free version, the options even for that aren’t great. If I had to start over, I’d go for Constant Contact’s free version or something similar to push out my newsletters.”

Highly efficient

“Mailchimp has been highly efficient for my business. It’s very well-organized, and I love being able to track my open rates through the website. It’s nice to be able to see the progress I’ve made through email marketing.”

So is Mailchimp a good fit for everyone? Of course not. But if you’re getting into email marketing or find your current tool challenging to use, it’s worth examining.
