In June 2014, LinkedIn introduced background images on the profiles of their Premium members. Since then, they have decided to open up this feature to all members.

Because LinkedIn is meant for your online professional presence, it’s important to make sure that your profile looks as good as possible.

As such, it’s probably not a great idea to use pictures of your family on vacation, your dog, or some other candid shot for the background on your LinkedIn profile. Save those photos for your Facebook page.

LinkedIn does provide Premium members with a selection of photos to choose from, but if you don’t have a Premium account, you’ll need to look a little bit harder to find a good picture to match your personality, your business, and your profile.

How To Add A LinkedIn Background Image

To add a background image to your LinkedIn profile, simply log in to your LinkedIn account, go to your profile, and look for a camera icon above your profile information. Select the picture you want to use for your background image, and click Save. Their recommended size for your background image is a minimum of 1400 pixels wide by 425 pixels tall.

To use one of the background images below, click on the thumbnail you want, and then click on the full picture that appears next. Finally, right-click and select Save As to save the background to your computer.
